The Customer

Pen Underwriting provide insurance products to brokers and insurance companies.

The Requirements

Competition in insurance is high. Pen came to us wanting to propel themselves by creating an experience their users would engage with and remember.

With a unique, unconventional style to play with we remodelled their proposition to put the user at the heart of the design whilst create something visualy fun, yet informative.

Discovery

Persona Mapping

It became apparent early in the project stages that, although we we're targeting a niche sector, there were still a number of personas that we needed to map and target. This enabled us to propose a number of key solutions and functions to ensure a good user experience throughout.

Concepts

Wireframes

After the completion of the research and initial stake holder workshops, the site was completey mapped and prototyped as wireframes. This allowed us to play and refine the Product and Contact tools and the complications that arise when dealing with multiple languages.

Furthermore, due to working with an external, overseas development company that specialised in the SiteCore framework, we had to ensure all our site schematics and technical specifications were clear and concise.

Design

Pattern Library

Pen Underwriting's previous online experience was immature as well as unengaging and so, to ensure a consistant, high quality product, we developed a UI pattern library to control and define key design principles as well as ensuring accessibilty and faster, more efficient deployment through both staging and production environments.

Highlights

I learnt that although something may seem simple and straight forward from the outset, you can still discover new opportunites and create new ideas. The opportunity to collaborate with an energtic, global team and stakeholders to produce something that is both engaging and unique gave me invaluable experience.
